Hello Kitty Stratocaster!
Comes In Pink & BlackThe Hello Kitty Stratocaster has been used by many musicians you probably know, no joke. There’s nothing cute about the sound you can get from a Squier (by Fender) Hello Kitty Stratocaster guitar. It’s a novelty item, true enough, geared towards pre-teen girls looking to learn to rock, but it’s also a real electric guitar.
The Hello Kitty guitar is not a toy. You can see the proof of this in some surprisingly serious rockers seen jamming on one of these kitties…heard of Dave Navarro? Yep, the former Red Hot Chili Peppers star has a Hello Kitty Strat, and there’s no doubt his music is as real as it gets. Some other well-known artists who have been spotted rocking the Hello Kitty include Courtney Love, Lisa Loeb, and Jane Weidlin (the Go-Go’s). There are even some other male rock stars that favor the Kitty like Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), Marcus Adoro (Eraserheads), Brian Amadeus Moderatto, and Kevin Johansen. Would all these stars play around with a toy? The Hello Kitty Stratocaster is actually a cheaper Strat than some, as it is a Squier Strat…still licensed by Fender, but in their mass-produced, less expensive line. These guitars are not shabbily built; they are just slightly more cheaply built than Fender Strats. The Kitty’s body is made of solid Agathis wood, and the neck and fret board are both maple. This is some pretty good wood for a novelty guitar. The pick guard is of course, a big Hello Kitty face, and there are little Kitty logos on the back. The hardware is all chrome. The Kitty is a simple guitar compared to some; there is only one knob, and that is for volume. It is a non-tremolo electric guitar, and has a single humbucker pickup. Without all the unnecessary extras, the guitar is great for beginners who don’t need too many features to figure out. Jumbo frets and a fixed bridge also mesh well with the simplistic design. You can pick one up in black or pink. Even with its simple features, the Hello Kitty Strat is a real instrument with a real sound. It’s versatile, and has that great Strat shape and feel. You really can’t go wrong with a design that’s been popular for decades, and has been promoted by legends. In the rock world…who hasn’t played a Strat? This is a great guitar for someone of any age that likes Hello Kitty, or even for some who just like the idea of playing a guitar that’s a little unconventional and likes to get a laugh. Whether it’s for your daughter, girlfriend, or you…the Hello Kitty Stratocaster is a fun instrument that has true playability. Fender recently stopped production on the Hello Kitty Strats, so you’ll have to shop around to find one. Good Luck!
