Taylor 422-R Guitar!
Great Acoustic Travel Guitar
Don’t let the small body of this guitar deceive you; the Taylor 422-R is a quality acoustic, with a great price.
Made in the San Diego Taylor Factory, this guitar has a solid Sitka spruce top, and back & sides composed of solid Indian Rosewood.
The finish is satin, and the neck is unbound solid mahogany.
The neck is the standard 14 frets, great for any style of play, and there is no cut away in the body of the guitar.
Classy chrome non-locking tuning knobs adorn the headstock, and a brown pick guard protects the body from scratches.
This guitar has many great qualities.
If you enjoy finger picking, than this guitar would be a great option. Also, it has nice bass for its small size.
Many models like it sacrifice sound for size, but the bass especially is quality even with the small body size.
The compact body style of this guitar is actually a plus.
If you’ve ever been to the airport and checked a guitar with your luggage, you can attest to the fact that this can be a disaster.
First, you have to wait for it to arrive, and secondly, there is no guarantee that your guitar will be in the same condition as it was when you sent it off.
The 422-R will fit in your overhead compartment, and you don’t even have to mess with baggage claim.
Not only is it totable, but also it is very durable.
This is the kind of guitar you can take to the mountains with you, and not worry about scratching it.
After years of play it should still look and sound great.
Not to mention,
You can find these guitars online for under a grand.
This is a great price for a Taylor.
It plays great live, and would be good for playing gigs.
Let’s look at a few of the downsides to purchasing a Taylor 422-R.
The sound quality of this acoustic is not as good when you are strumming as it is when you are finger picking.
The sound is not bad, but it is not blow your mind smooth either.
It is a low-end guitar, but it is a Taylor nonetheless.
One other issue that some people have with this guitar is with its playability.
The action on the 422-R is not as high quality as some of the higher end Taylor’s, and if you are looking for a guitar with great playability, you may want to look elsewhere.
This guitar has a few minor issues, but for under a grand it is still a great buy.
