Taylor DN3!

Dreadnought DN Series Acoustic Guitar Review!

Taylor DN3

Taylor DN3

The Dreadnought is the guitar that launched Taylor Guitars into fame, and the DN Series is a hats-off to that classic, traditional style that is still so loved.

Taylor's DN3 is a model that offers the style and nostalgia of the classical Taylors with a versatility of sound that is great for a lot of different playing styles and genres.

The name of the Taylor DN3 comes from the Dreadnought (the DN) and the wood combination is identified by the 3.

The woods used in the DN3 are Sapele and Spruce.

The Sapele back and sides create a good resonating tone much like mahogany, and the Sitka Spruce top keeps in tradition with most Taylor models.

The neck, like many other Taylors, is made out of Mahogany. Of course, the fretboard is bound ebony, and there is a Rosewood headstock overlay.

Out of several online reviews, there is really only one thing that people consistently do not like about the DN3.

That thing is the lack of a pickguard, which isn’t really a major flaw, just a feature that a lot of musicians take for granted with almost any guitar.

Certain types of playing don’t require a pickguard, but there are plenty of players that use a pick, and don’t want to be careful.

One of the most raved about things about this model is the sound.

The traditional Taylor sound is there, with all its bright and clean overtones.

However, Taylor's DN3 is not quite as annoyingly bright as some models.

There are plenty of musicians that find the tone just a little too much for their style, and this model gives everything good about Taylor’s signature sound without that overwhelming brightness.

Some of the other features of the DN3 are smaller and less significant, but still show the quality of a true Taylor.

The inlays on the fretboard are small pearl dots, and the binding is a creamy color that complements the guitar very well.

There are also a Tusq nut and saddle, an ebony bridge, and chrome plated tuners.

The satin finish of the guitar is understated and elegant, and ties all the features in together with class.

Taylor's DN3 may cost you more than a grand, but it’s one of the most popular Taylor models, and worth the cost.
